In order to understand as to how debt consolidation can help with improvement of your FICO score, it is important for you to know, as to what happens in consolidation. In addition, it is also important for you to know the details of FICO score. Debt consolidation is the process, which helps in paying off your debts, as the interest rate gets lowered, and the number of debts gets reduced too. On the other hand, the payment history accounts for 35% of the credit score.

Debt consolidation process

When the debt starts piling up, and when the interest rate seems to be too high for you to be able to manage the payments, it may be wise of you to opt for debt consolidation. There are various benefits of consolidation. The greatest benefit is that, the interest rate gets lowered. Interest rate is the greatest thing which leads to high debt payment amounts.

Other than that, with consolidation, the number of unsecured credit card debts you have too, gets reduced to only one. As a result, it becomes easier for you to manage the debt payments. It is much easier to handle one creditor, rather than managing so many creditors at the same time.

FICO score

FICO score is the type of credit score, where various factors are taken in account during the calculation. Starting from your debts, and the debt payments, the debt to income ratio, the type of credit you have, and so on, all are considered, while calculating your credit score.

The credit score range is in between 300-850. The payment history accounts for 35% of your credits core. On the other hand, the length of payment history accounts for 30% of the credit score. So, it is obvious that if you can go on making payments on your debts, it is going to help in the improvement of your credit score.

Debt consolidation and FICO score

So, it is quite obvious that FICO score is going to improve if you opt for debt consolidation. When you opt for debt settlement, you are actually requesting the creditor to lower the outstanding debt amount, which is due. However, why would the creditor agree to your request, if there is no actual reason? Now, if you miss payments, only then it becomes almost apparent that you are having financial hardship.

On the other hand, in case of consolidation, it isn’t the outstanding debt amount which gets lowered. It is only the interest rate which is reduced. So, the creditor need not fear that they are going to get less money than what is owed. So, you aren’t required to miss any payments. Moreover, as it becomes easier for you to make the payments, you need not fear missing any payments. Thus, consolidation is going to help with credit improvement, and in the increase of your credit score.

However, another thing which you will have to keep in mind is that you should not close down the accounts after consolidation. This reduces your overall available credit ratio and this could lower your FICO credit score.

If you want to dispute information you find on your report, then first of all you need to request a report from Experian and then go over it extremely carefully. If you happen to come across a mistake or an error, then you should begin to follow the online instructions for making a dispute or you could also call or write the credit reporting company themselves. If you want to dispute your credit information, you will be happy that you will not be charged a fee to do so.

After you have contacted the credit reporting company, they will begin by checking over some information and then they will be able to send you an update. If they send you an update and you do not agree with the information that they send you, you can dispute the information again by adding a statement of dispute to the credit report. However, you must be as specific as possible with your dispute. Whenever you send in a credit dispute, the whole process could potentially take up to 30 days in order to complete after the dispute has been received. However, it is unlikely that it will take this long. Usually, they are resolved in a much shorter period of time.

A FICO credit score range is what will be able to determine whether or not you have a good credit score. Think of it like a scale, but the higher the number, the better your score is. Typically a FICO credit score range can be anywhere between 300 – 850. Obviously, the lower the score, the more of a credit risk you will be in the eyes of lenders. Anything that is outside of the limits that I have listed above cannot be considered a true FICO credit score. You will find that other companies, such as Equifax and Transunion will have their own credit score range limits and they are quite similar.

So, basically you want to remember that the credit score range is between 300 – 850. However, you will rarely find anyone that has a credit score hitting the very bottom (350) or at the tippity top (850). Basically, if you have a credit score of 850, you could basically get a loan to purchase anything you could want. If you are at the very bottom, you’re probably not going to be able to get a loan for anything. Of course, I’m kidding (just a little), but those examples are the best way I can explain it.

If you have been having some problems getting a traditional bank loan, you should try to get a loan through a credit union. If you have been turned down due to low income levels and you have credit out, you should try a credit union and you may be able to get the loan that you need. Credit unions will actually analyze you as a person and talk with you. They want to know how serious you are about the loan and see how much of a desire you have to pay the loan back. So, your character can get you a loan, instead of your loan potential being based solely on your income.

Credit union cards are great, because they will actually offer lower rates than most credit cards and they will also have less fees associated with them. However, they do not have as many perks as most credit card companies include with their cards, For instance, you may not get any credit card miles or cash-back bonuses with a credit union card. So, you basically have to determine which is better for you and make your decision.

Credit unions also offer some great services. Even though banks may offer some extensive branches and ATMs, credit unions are quickly beginning to offer more and more services and products. Also, credit unions will be able to offer smaller fees, better interest rates, shared branching, etc.. Therefore, if you’re interested in credit unions, you should definitely check out all of the services that they have to offer.

Do you remember the feeling of having to walk into the bank with your head held low, dreading the thought of going in to ask for a loan? With a credit union, you will not have that problem anymore. Credit unions offer their members the ability to apply for loans online and get a decision within minutes. In other words, it is extremely convenient and embarrassment-free.

These are just a few things about credit unions. If you are interested in more information, check back in the future and you will find more information on credit unions.

Basically, a good credit score is going to actually depend on the scoring system that is going to be used by the lender. Different scoring systems are going to come with a different set of scales. However, if you go to one agency and they tell you that you have a good credit score, the answer is most likely going to be the same when asking other agencies. You will most likely have a good credit score across the boards.

Typically, most credit scores are between 600 – 750. If you have a credit score over 700, you will most likely not have a problem with any agency. A score over 700 indicates that you do possess good credit management skills. So, if you want to have good credit, you are going to want to try to get as close to 700 as possible, if not higher.

If you want to try to get a good credit score, you will want to make sure that you pay your payments on time. Payment history is definitely the biggest factor when it comes to determining your credit score. Therefore, you have to make sure that you pay on time, all the time.

If you have a bad credit score, don’t get mad at yourself or discouraged, because you have something in common with a lot of people. Unfortunately, when you feel the need to fix bad credit, you have to understand that the whole process is comparable to losing weight: it’s going to take some time and there is no quick way to accomplish it.

I’m sure a lot of you have seen those quick fix methods out there, saying that you will be able to fix your bad credit in no time, but you have to be skeptical of things like these. As a matter of fact, these quick fix methods could actually backfire on you and make your credit worse. If you want to improve your bad credit, you are going to have to manage it responsible over a length of time. Honestly, that is the best way to fix your credit score.

If you want to repair your credit score, the journey is going to begin by checking your credit report. If you have not done this already, I would highly suggest requesting a free copy of your credit report so you can begin checking it for errors. Basically, your credit report will give you information that was used in determining your credit score.

Unfortunately, credit reports do sometimes have errors on them that could harm your overall credit score. The most common mistakes you will find on your credit reports is late payments have been listed incorrectly. Therefore, you should go over the report thoroughly for errors, making sure that all of your payments are listed correctly and for the right amounts. If you happen to come across any errors, you should begin to dispute them immediately with the credit bureau and reporting agency.

One of the biggest factors when it comes to your credit score is making your payments on time. Therefore, it is highly advisable that you set up payment reminders, so you are never late when it comes to paying your bills. Some banks out there actually have a service that will send you payment reminders. Also, you could consider setting up automatic payments every month through your bank account for certain bills. If you do that, you will have to watch your bank account balance closely.

Lastly, you should stop digging yourself deeper and deeper in debt. If you have credit cards, you should stop using them immediately. You should at least stop using them until you have paid off the balance. After that, if you use them at all, you should use them responsibly. Using a credit card responsibly can be very beneficial to your credit score.
